Helpful FAQs About Fillers

If you have questions about fillers, check out these FAQs below. Call us for a FREE skin consultation!
  • Do the injections hurt?

Fillers are injected using an ultrafine needle, resulting in minimal discomfort. To assure your comfort during the procedure, a topical or local anesthetic may be used, along with ice packs. Most fillers are infused with lidocaine to ensure a comfortable treatment.

  • What are the possible side effects?

The most common side effects are redness, swelling and bruising. These side effects are generally mild and last a short time. We take all efforts to avoid, prevent and treat bruises.

  • Fillers and Botox: Can I get both?

While you might think that botox and fillers can only be used separately, they're actually better when they can complement each other. Botox is often used with fillers to enhance the overall results of the treatment. In many cases, dermal fillers will last longer when used with botox.

  • What are the different types of fillers?

Each filler uses different forms of hyaluronic acid (HA). They differ in how the molecules are cross-linked, which affects their individual properties and how the dermal filler will behave within the skin.

  • If I don't like the results, is it reversible?

Fillers at Casey Family Medical Center are dissolvable. It's rare for a client to want their filler reversed, but it does give peace of mind to know that reversal is possible and easy.

Helpful FAQs About Botox

If you have questions about botox, check out these FAQs below. Call us for a FREE skin consultation!
  • Post-procedure instructions?

We advise every patient who receives a botox treatment to abstain from activity for 4 hours. Be careful not to lay down or apply pressure to your face.

  • What is the treatment like?

Treatments are quick and minimally invasive. Discomfort is also minimal. No aesthetics is required, although very sensitive clients may opt to numb the area with a cold pack or numbing cream before injection. There is no downtime.

  • Will I be able to make facial expressions?

Yes. Of course, you're looking for visible results, but botox will not radically change your facial appearance or make you look as if you've 'had work done.' The muscle activity that causes, for example, frown lines between the brows are temporarily reduced by botox. After the treatment, you can still frown and look surprised, just without the wrinkles and lines between your brows.

  • How many units of botox with I need?

The number of units needed per area can vary depending upon the desired outcome and degree of lines / wrinkles being treated. On average, the forehead, for example, may need 12-40 units. The best way to determine how many units are needed is to set up a face to face consultation.

  • Do you dilute your botox?

Botox comes from Allergan in frozen-dried powdered form. Therefore, it must have a dilute to make it injectable. Our practice uses the recommended mixture ratio, which is 1 cc per 100u. This reduces the risk of problems and adds to the longevity.
